This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step: kindergarten!
In a preschool classroom, some of the 3- and 4-year-old children smile, laugh, and giggle during free play; are curious about what happens next during story time; ask what and why questions while doing hands-on activities; and use words to express feelings and needs. Teachers in the classroom promote children’s social and emotional health in many ways, for example, by organizing a material-rich environment to stimulate social interactions among children.
As your preschooler moves through their day, they’ll hear a lot of open-ended questions. For example, instead of saying, “Paint your flower petals with red and yellow,” we might ask, “What color would you paint your flower?” It’s a small change that makes a big difference in building your child’s confidence.
Our caring teachers set a daily rhythm for preschoolers that includes group time, story time, outdoor play, meals and snacks, naps, and most especially, lots of playtime (because we know so much learning happens when they play with attentive teachers nearby).
